💥 What a blast with RedBull Powder Company Limited 💥

Last week I had the pleasure of guiding this epic group of leaders through a session on Communication. 

This is a team who are eager to increase their effectiveness as individuals, as leaders, and as a team. 

We started their progressive development journey focusing on communication; because communication is the basis for how people work together. 

We also focussed on communication because this team works in an unique environment - some of them detonate explosives! 

As a result of this working environment the team can face critical disruptions to their communications. 

The noise is literal. 

It's explosives. It's lack of signal. It's language barriers. It's multiple sites. It's travelling staff. 

Being an effective communicator is essential. 

One way they navigate this noise is having access to a multitude of ways to send and receipt messages. 

A fantastic example shared by a team member on how he recently navigated this: he needed to communicate a safety message to external clients who had limited English. He pivoted from the normal verbal approach, and communicated his message with printed images, hand signals, and eye contact. He gained receipt of their message through their own hand signals and eye contact. As a result everyone got home safely. 

The key takeaway from the day is to confirm receipt from the person you're communicating with, so you know they have received and comprehended your intended message. Without this - it's just silent chaos.
